Speed dating is done in a round robin fashion where each person participating answers a series of questions, then in a few minutes the next person answers the questions. This type of dating is becoming very popular.

People everywhere claim that speed dating is a more effective way to date than visiting your local singles bar. It is of course not as expensive.

Speed dating forces every person that is participating to meet and give out personal information about them. This way more data is gathered at a quicker pace and the interest in each other can grow faster. Since, you are also seeing every in the group face to face, a physical attraction can also be sparked. The more you learn about someone the better it is to bond with that person with whom you have common interests.

Speed dating events do not allow participates to ask each other out. If you want to meet someone outside of the event you will be able to inform the event coordinators, and if the other person is also interested they will be given your contact information and you will receive theirs. You can only communicate with other people through body language.

Are there disadvantages to speed dating?
Yes, there are some disadvantages. Some people complain about the cost of speed dating event. The sponsors of these events usually charge between $20 to $40. This price more than likely will include a few free drinks or drinks at a discounted price. The price is close to the going out to a singles bar. But, in the speed dating event you will get to learn more about several prospective dates in a fun and exciting manner without having to reject them or to be rejected yourself.

At most speed dating functions there will be about 60 – 100 participants, half of them male and the other half female. The average cost for joining the event is $35. Let’s say the drinks are $5 each, you will probably buy yourself 2 -3 drinks, which would add another $10 - $15 to your investment. This is not really a lot of money when you meeting several members of the opposite sex that may be the one you are looking for.

Does speed dating ease the rejection from potential dates?
Speed dating will help you avoid the face to face rejection found in many singles bars and clubs. The reason is because only people that chose to meet each other will be able to receive personal information about each other from the sponsors of the speed dating event. Remember, they can still reject you, just not face to face. If someone you have chosen does not want to meet you then that is a rejection, so to speak. And there could be a chance that no one at the event is interested in knowing you better. And if this does in fact happen then you will think twice before going to another speed dating event. This type of rejection can still cause the feeling of unworthiness.
